Job Description

We have an opportunity for an Underwriting Assistant to join our Property team here at Tokio Marine Kiln. You will report to the Departmental Manager and will assist in carrying out all tasks relating to the underwriting and reinsurance of the division in order to provide appropriate customer focused products and maximise profitability, always bearing in mind the relationship between risk and return in respect of all underwriting activities.



This role includes responsibility for:



To assist with ensuring all of Tokio Marine Kiln insurance operations meet PRA, FCA and Lloyd's requirements and that they are conducted with integrity.



To establish and develop business relationships with the Divisions intermediaries, agents and business partners in order to ensure risk administration for the Division is handled, accurately, effectively and efficiently.



Building of a good understanding of the risk appetite in order to assist underwriters with risk selection, preparation and placement.



Collaboration in a timely manner with internal departments to ensure requests for information, feedback or guidance are completed within deadlines.



To support the underwriter in achieving the Lloyd's minimum underwriting standards by adhering to all relevant processes and procedures.



To accurately record all insurance business within Tokio Marine Kiln's systems, so that risks can be properly monitored and reviewed by the Division and that data required for all external and internal reporting requirements is accurately captured and in accordance with relevant time limits whilst maintaining the highest levels of data quality.



To be a part of the review and challenge of individual underwriting decisions, and where necessary, ensure that appropriate action is taken to resolve any issues identified, including escalation.



Maintaining the underwriting files and dealing with any additional Ad hoc tasks as required.



Understanding and adhering to internal controls and deadlines.



It is essential that you are comfortable using Outlook and have good Excel skills. General office administration experience within the insurance market, especially Lloyd's, is advantageous. We are looking for a team player with attention to detail, who demonstrates confidence, excellent communication skills, will pro-actively prioritise their workload and take ownership of their specific responsibilities.
