Job Description

We have the opportunity for two Underwriting Assistants to join our Special Risks department here at Tokio Marine Kiln . Reporting into the Departmental Manager, you will assist the Managers and Underwriters to carry out all tasks relating to the underwriting operations and reinsurance of the Department in order to provide appropriate customer focused products and maximise profitability, always bearing in mind the relationship between risk and return in respect of all underwriting activities.



Key responsibilities include:



Assist in the underwriting operations in accordance with the department manager's instructions in respect of premiums, terms and conditions which are set in order to secure the planned underwriting profits in accordance with the Department's agreed Business Plans.



To accurately and efficiently review relevant Binding Authorities (where applicable) to monitor rating, budgets, compliance and performance alongside underwriters.



To establish and develop business relationships with the Departments intermediaries, agents and business partners in order to secure business portfolios for the Departments that meet with the Business Plans and which are effectively handled to reduce the risk of mal-administration in the distribution process.



Partnership with underwriters and maintenance of a general understanding of the account in order to assist underwriters, departmental manager and other stakeholders.



To assist in coaching and training provided to graduates working with the Departments to ensure that they obtain a full understanding of the rating methodology, risk assessment and underwriting management processes used by the division.



Data entry and retrieval including report set-up and analysis. Departmental administration. Maintaining the underwriting and office filing system. Scanning and photocopying. Other Ad hoc tasks as required.



Monitoring and reporting of aggregations including analysis of output.



The successful candidate will have good general office administration experience and will be accomplished using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Knowledge of Lloyd's and the insurance market is also advantageous but not essential. We are looking for a team player who works with excellent attention to detail and can adhere to strict deadlines. They should be confident to work with a wide variety of people and be able to prioritise their own workloads.
