Queensferry Sea & Royal Marines Cadets (T.S. Lochinvar), based at Port Edgar, South Queensferry, is seeking motivated
Volunteer Uniformed Instructors
to help deliver exciting training and adventure opportunities to local young people aged 10-18.
Our instructors are the backbone of the unit -- leading activities, supporting development, and helping cadets grow in confidence, teamwork, and leadership. You don't need a military background -- just a willingness to learn, get involved, and make a difference.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver and support training sessions in subjects such as seamanship, navigation, drill, boating, fieldcraft, or first aid (training provided).
Supervise and mentor cadets during unit nights, weekends, and community events.
Support and promote the values and ethos of the Sea Cadet Corps.
Attend and assist with parades, competitions, and training weekends as availability allows.
Complete required training and safeguarding modules to maintain standards.
Skills & Qualities
Enthusiastic and approachable, with a passion for youth development.
Able to communicate clearly and work as part of a disciplined team.
Reliable, committed, and adaptable -- willing to lead by example.
No previous cadet or armed forces experience required; all training provided.
Training & Support
Volunteers receive full induction, uniform issue, and access to nationally recognised qualifications such as RYA, BCU, First Aid, and Youth Leadership.
We'll match your interests to areas of training -- whether on the water, in the classroom, or outdoors.
Time Commitment
Typically two evenings per week (Monday & Thursday, 18:30-21:30) plus occasional weekends for training or events. Flexible attendance arrangements can be discussed.
Additional Information
Volunteer role (unpaid, travel expenses reimbursed where applicable).
Volunteer Allowance available for certain activities.
Must complete safeguarding and PVG/DBS checks.
Uniform provided upon successful completion of induction and training.
