Job Category: Academic:Grade: UE07: xc2xa340,497 - xc2xa348,149 per annumCollege of Science & Engineering/School of MathematicsFixed term for either 18 or 21 months (depending on start date)Full time: 35 hours per weekThe Opportunity:The School of Mathematics is seeking to appoint a University Teacher with a focus on Statistics and Data Science. This is a fixed-term position for either 18 or 21 months (depending on start date) involving teaching across a range of our undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses.The role will also include involvement in assessment of students, helping to develop courses and programmes, where this is appropriate, and teaching related administration, which could include providing academic support to students. There will be opportunities to take part in scholarship activities in our School.The School takes career development seriously: we will mentor the post holder to develop key skills and experiences in teaching and learning and support participation in the Edinburgh Teaching Award, which leads to a Higher Education Academy Fellowship.The post is available from September 2025 and is fixed term for either 18 or 21 months (depending on start date).Your skills and attributes for success:

  • A PhD in Statistics
  • Experience and achievement in teaching within Higher Education reflected in a growing personal teaching portfolio
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in a range of contexts
  • Good interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Ability to plan and initiate activities and projects and develop self and others
