About the Services
The service provides essential additional capacity to the Urgent, on the day services offered across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. Currently there are daily presentations at A&E departments, across all the acute providers that could be dealt with by clinicians in the community. The role of this team is to provide that urgent on the day service that reduces pressures on A&E and the ambulance services and keeps patients out of hospital and safe in the community. Ultimately this service will be offered out of 3 locations across the county to make it accessible to all.
We are looking to cover Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. This service is 8am - 8pm 7 days per week.
Job Summary:
The purpose of the role is to:
Offer general assistance to the team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way
Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the service including the provision of clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the team
Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken may be varied from time to time dependent on current and evolving workload and staffing levels:
Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments and telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
Taking accurate messages and passing on information
Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures
Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers
Keeping the reception areas, notice-boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter
Locking-up of premises and maintaining security in accordance with practice protocols
