We are looking for a versatile and proactive process engineer to engage and drive the safe, reliable, and efficient operations of the Power Plant on site alongside our utilities team, including boilers, gas turbines, water treatment plant, and any support services associated with it.

With a strong operational approach, the process engineer should be able to support the team closely, monitoring the process on a day-to-day basis, and actively be hands-on and self-driven as the process requires.

The process engineer will be required to work closely with the Utilities Manager, driving the 5-pillar strategy of the department (Safety, Legal and Compliance, Reliability, Sustainability and Efficiency), as well as having a key focus on the net-zero strategy for the site.

When requested, to lead specific projects and analysis as per the needs of the Mill CHP.

Description of Duties and Responsibilities



To assist the Utilities Manager in any reasonable tasks necessary to achieve Safety, Environmental, Compliance and Operational targets. On Call Support in a 1 in 4 rotation, the person should be available to support the process when needed. To support the operation during unplanned shutdowns out of hours, according to a schedule previously planned and agreed with the department manager. Work closely with the Utilities Manager and the team on the planning and execution of the legislative maintenance of the assets. As part of the person's development and training, the person should be able to step up and side with the Utilities Manager and CHP Operators as the process requires, engaging at times with the site management team and or operational tasks with the team. To ensure resources (internal & external) are assigned to complete projects in a timely manner. Make sure the information in the database is accurate and clear, to keep a good record of the Energy Performance for the site. Work closely with the Utilities Manager in the reports and assessment of energy performance on site. To conduct and deliver regular reviews as to the status of individual projects. During shutdowns to assist the team with tasks, analysis and corrective actions as required. To assist in the deployment of Lean techniques throughout the site in all departments, working towards the process and driving efficiency with Energy Performance indicators. To organise and co-ordinate status meetings to an agreed frequency. To actively seek ways to maximise process efficiency. To ensure that all associated administration is fully completed and filed in the correct locations/departments. To participate in ensuring that relevant training and development programmes are established for the success of the LEAN tools to be implemented. To identify Mechanical/Electrical/Production constraints and bring them to the attention of the Department Manager and actively participate in a proactive approach with potential solutions. To liaise closely with colleagues in the Quality/Technical, Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation and Production Departments on Mill energy efficiency/improvement projects. To liaise closely with the Works Mechanical/Electrical Engineer and Production Superintendents, discussing any issues as they arise. To undertake projects of improvement, extension or modification or equipment in order to optimise efficiency, reliability and safety. To communicate and assist other departments during problem-solving sessions. To commit to and actively support the continued development of SWTH, its process and its people. To adopt any changes in technology and equipment that are necessary to ensure the smooth running of the plant. To take care of the health and safety of themselves and others and execute the initiatives from the Safety improvement Plan in the CHP area To maintain and develop your skills to keep up with the demands of changing technology, working practice and flexible working and to assist with the development and training of colleagues Reporting any significant hazards and defects that could lead to harm or injury to a person, the environment or company property. Reporting all accidents, incidents and dangerous occurrences and co-operating in incident investigations arising from or possibly leading to health and safety and environmental matters. To remain aware of your responsibilities under the management systems that the Company operates through training and the Company intranet. To engage and participate in the continuous improvement culture of SWTH To perform any reasonable tasks as may be required

Specific Skills and Experience



Job-requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Applied Chemistry and/or HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Good knowledge and/or experience of water chemistry and boiler operation. Proficient in Microsoft 365 Experience in SAP
