Lower Thames Crossing

--one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects. Balfour Beatty Multi Utilities are responsible for the coordination, planning, design and delivery of all Utilities associated with the construction of the Lower Thames Crossing.



Outside of LTC, as part of our

Power Transmission & Distribution (T&D)

team, we are delivering critical electrical infrastructure that will help shape the future of transport and connectivity in the UK.



We are now recruiting a talented

Utilities Project Delivery Manager

to prepare for and lead the on-site delivery of Utility works, ensuring safe, sustainable, and high-quality construction execution, aligned with programme and cost targets. There are over 250 utility diversions to develop, coordinate, design, procure and deliver, and this person will lead the development of the delivery team from pre construction into the construction phase.


Your Key Responsibilities




Work with BBMU teams, enabling works, main works civils and SUs to determine correct build sequences and constraints for Utility works. Develop all scope documentation for the delivery of contestable works Lead on programme development with planning team to ensure full coordination and agreed give/gets and milestones with enabling works and main works teams Contribute 'buildability' input to fix programme sequencing Lead the teams managing the procurement of the works delivery for the Utility Diversions Plan, manage, and deliver site-based utility construction activities in line with project objectives, budget and programme. Maintain and deliver all period reporting requirements for the main business, client and project. Ensure construction works are delivered

safely, sustainably, and to programme, cost, and quality

. Lead the development and maintenance of systems, teams, and resources required for successful delivery. Create an environment where the construction team can

thrive, collaborate, and succeed

. Manage client and stakeholder relationships effectively to ensure clear communication and alignment. Review and monitor construction performance, implementing improvements where necessary. Inspire and provide clear leadership to a

multi-disciplinary team

, focused on shared goals. Make informed decisions balancing time, cost, quality, risk, and scope to meet project requirements.


What you'll be doing



Hold periodic project reviews (PRM) and update the Digital Briefcase in
accordance with GBL
Develop all project documentation ahead of commencement of delivery phase Plan for, budget and grow delivery teams in preparation for works commencing Manage require gate and governance processes required to facilitate successful project commencement. Ensure the team maintain accurate project records (progress, daily diaries
etc.)
Prepare both internal/external reports and liaise with stakeholders Aptitude and ability to understand technical answers / explanations Implement technical information and drawings into delivery Understand and specify plant and equipment requirements Complete buildability assessments from first-hand experience Managing development of Quality procedures, ITPs, checksheets in line with client, BB and SU requirements Upskilling others Deliver a quality product Drive productivity Develop high performing teams, promote a pipeline of talent and assist with
internal training through supporting, guiding, motivating and empowering the

team. Using the resources available through training, mentoring and

performance management.
Manage subcontractors, including monitoring of contractor attendance and
progress, providing direct instruction and support as necessary, such that

contractual arrangements are achieved
Ensure procurement plans are available in line with the overall project plans,
such that material/resources/supply chain can be delivered to meet scheduled

deadlines
Ensure team adopt productivity and project controls techniques Manage commercial change


Who we're looking for



The following qualities/experience are essential:


Able to demonstrate a track record of project delivery in Utilities and major projects Good understanding of the standard forms of contracts Experience In working with and managing SUs delivering utility works Proficient in commercial/project management communications Experience in implementing safe systems of work Comprehensive Knowledge of discipline Able to communicate effectively both verbal and written with all levels of the
organisation
Effective team management skills which empower, influence & inspire others
to build effective teams. Providing mentoring and support to members of the

team where required
Good knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics Ability to see the business vision and inspire this shared vision amongst the
team
Communications - Verbally, Written, Presenting Communicate new concepts and ideas to technical and non-technical
stakeholders
Effective personal and social skills Awareness and promotion the benefits of diversity and inclusion

The following qualities/experience are desirable:


Experience of working on a variety of project types Proficient on O365 Holds a current driving licence

The role holder is likely to have one or more of the following:


CSCS and SMSTS or Equivalent BPSS Clearance
