Role Overview

The UV?Print Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining large?format UV printing equipment (flatbed and roll?to?roll) to produce high?quality signs. You will prepare print files, set up jobs, run print presses, check colour accuracy and finish/cut printed panels. The role sits within our 10?000?sq?ft production facility in Uxbridge and requires collaboration with our design studio, cutting/laminating teams and installation crews to ensure every sign meets client specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate UV printers and cutting equipment.

Prepare and load materials (acrylic, PVC, aluminium and other substrates) onto flatbed UV printers; set machine parameters for each job; operate flatbed UV printers and related finishing equipment such as cutters and laminators.

Colour matching and calibration.

Mix inks, adjust colour densities and perform colour?matching during pre?press and proofing. Check for colour registration and adjust inks as needed during the print run.

Monitor quality and troubleshoot.

Inspect printed output continuously for defects, registration, drying or contamination issues, making press adjustments or minor repairs as required. Conduct regular quality checks to ensure prints meet client specifications.

Maintenance and housekeeping.

Perform routine maintenance, calibration, wash?ups and cleaning of machines to maximise reliability and print quality. Keep the workspace tidy and organised by clearing down equipment at the end of each shift.

Shift management and workflow.

Comply with established shift patterns, plan daily/weekly workloads, and maximise machine efficiency to meet production targets.

Ad?hoc tasks and cross?training.

Assist with cutting, laminating, assembling and installing signs when required; help mix inks or lay plates; and support other production teams as necessary.

Health, safety and environmental compliance.

Follow Display?Signs' safety policies and safe?handling procedures for UV?curable inks and chemicals. Contribute to the company's environmental objectives by minimising waste, recycling materials and using eco?friendly processes.
Person SpecificationEssential Skills and Experience

Demonstrable experience operating large?format UV or digital printing equipment, with knowledge of flatbed UV printers and RIP software. Understanding of colour theory and ability to calibrate printers and match colours accurately. Mechanical aptitude to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on printing equipment. Ability to read and interpret work orders and technical drawings, and to perform basic mathematics and measurements. Proven record of maintaining a clean, safe work area and following health?and?safety procedures. Strong problem?solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot printing issues quickly.
Qualifications

GCSEs or equivalent; vocational training or apprenticeship in print technology, graphic design or a related field is advantageous. 1-2 years' experience in UV, digital or large?format printing (experience with flexographic or screen printing is also valuable). Forklift or materials?handling certification (desirable).

High attention to detail and commitment to producing high?quality work. Ability to prioritise workloads and meet tight deadlines. Good communication and teamwork skills; comfortable collaborating with designers, production staff and installers. Enthusiastic, flexible and willing to learn new equipment or processes.
