About the Role:
As a member of the MI team you will act as a data and reporting adviser for the Liberty Reinsurance company (LMRe). You will need to adeptly guide stakeholders transitioning from traditional reporting to adopt new technologies while ensuring their business needs and concerns are fully addressed. Success in this role requires ability to understand requirements and diverse perspectives, adaptability to different situations, manage expectations, and navigate complex environments with diplomacy while being amiable.
The role will also involve liaising with the RI Analytics Lead and Insights Manager to correspond on workload and co-ordinate effort for the LMRe. This should ensure LMRe's MI and analytical needs are met with an emphasis on becoming a trusted business advisor, whilst remaining reactive to requests as they come in. This will be a business facing role and candidates will need to have an open, approachable mindset to encourage and foster strong working relations between MI and LMRe stakeholders.
Time will be spent predominantly on SQL and Power BI with a view to transition existing reporting and develop new solutions in Power BI overcoming data challenges along the way. As such, the candidate would be expected to have strong knowledge of excel, good experience with SQL and in depth exposure to power BI. The nature of work will extend to support of projects and business initiatives, enhancing data and analysis, and working with the business to ensure the best approach is taken to data and reporting.
About the Department & Team:
This role will form part of the Reinsurance MI Analytics team working as a dedicated resource within LMRe. This will involve engaging heavily with multiple teams across LMRe, including Underwriting, Actuarial, Business Development and Portfolio Management. This key role will help represent the MI service by gathering requirements and creating high quality analytics and reports to support them and their decision making process.
Whilst the role will sit embedded within LMRe, the role itself forms one part of a large MI team that supports Liberty on a wider scale both with other embedded roles and a more centralised resource. This wider team will be available for support and to assist this role whenever possible, ensuring that all approaches to Liberty Data & Analytics are consistent and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities:Promote the use of data and the profile of MI within the Reinsurance Company
Support Reinsurance Underwriting function with data and analysis service
Act as key contact for Reinsurance and provide relevant business knowledge
Work closely with the Business Development team to further Reinsurance engagement
Collect and understand requirements for new Power BI reporting and deliver new reports.
Complete complex ad-hoc requests
Investigating new software/concepts that may assist MI or the Reinsurance team
Research new data availability that will enrich current data offerings and reports
Develop Liberty Mutual culture of data driven decision making through training and education with LMRe
Produce clear and concise reports to analyse business activity
Any other duties as is reasonably requested.

Skills and ExperienceStrong interpersonal skills and experience building effective relationships with stakeholders
An understanding of the reinsurance function and data requirements.
Can demonstrate knowledge on building reports to a high standard
Effectively interacts and communicates with clients and colleagues to understand what kind of information they need to produce
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Power BI
Requires strong and relevant work experience gained in a similar role within the insurance industry
Knowledge of Microsoft SQL databases; can demonstrate how to write queries and produce qualitative data for the business
Shows initiative in undertaking tasks and the ability to prioritise stakeholder needs
