The Role

We are looking for a

Delivery driver/ Shop Assistant

to join our friendly team at the Age UK Gateshead Furniture Shop. This role is key to ensuring smooth daily operations, creating an excellent shopping experience, and helping generate income to support our services.

What you'll be doing:

Assisting in the day-to-day running of the shop alongside the Retail Manager Delivering excellent customer service, ensuring every visitor feels welcome Supporting and working alongside volunteers in the shop Maintaining a clean, safe, and well-presented retail space, including visual merchandising and displays Handling stock donations, including sorting, pricing, and rotating items between shops Safely lifting and moving furniture and larger donated goods Processing sales accurately and following financial procedures (cash, card, banking, and reporting) Supporting shop-based fundraising and promotional campaigns Deputising for the Retail Manager when required

About you:

We're looking for someone who is:

Experienced in retail, ideally with knowledge of charity shops Confident in customer service and handling cash/card transactions Creative in visual merchandising and displays Flexible, adaptable, and able to work as part of a team or independently Physically able to move and handle furniture safely Able to drive (UK licence required) and travel between sites if needed Confident in supporting volunteers and contributing to a positive team environment

Desirable (but not essential):

Experience in charity retail Experience supporting people with additional needs Volunteer coordination experience
