Job Overview

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Van Driver aged 25+ due to vehicle insurance requirements to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently form our Derby workshops to construction sites throughout the UK, ensuring timely deliveries while maintaining a high standard of service. This role requires excellent communication skills and a strong understanding of vehicle operation, as well as the ability to navigate various routes effectively.

Duties

Drive a Mercedes Sprinter van with a 5 mtr caged back to deliver goods to designated locations from our Derby workshops to construction sites throughout the UK, ensuring adherence to all traffic regulations and safety protocols. To assist with loading at our Derby workshops and offloading if required at site end. Candidate must be able to keep the loaded vehicle overnight as the vehicle will usually be pre loaded for the following day delivery and may require early start. Communicate effectively with warehouse staff and customers regarding delivery schedules and any potential issues. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition, reporting any mechanical issues as necessary. Assist in loading and unloading goods from the van, ensuring that items are secured properly during transit. Maintain accurate delivery records and documentation, including mileage logs and delivery confirmations. Provide exceptional customer service during interactions with clients at delivery points. Collaborate with warehouse personnel to coordinate efficient delivery schedules and routes.

Experience

Previous experience as a Van Driver or in a similar delivery role is preferred. A valid commercial driving licence is essential, with a clean driving record. Familiarity with flatbed driving is advantageous but not mandatory. Basic mechanical knowledge is beneficial for performing routine vehicle checks and minor repairs. Strong communication skills are required for effective interaction with team members and customers. Experience in a warehouse environment can be an asset, aiding in the understanding of logistics operations.
