Overview

We are seeking a reliable and professional Driver to join our team at our Reading Hub. This is a new part-time permanent role created to support our growing operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transport of calibration equipment, samples, gauges, and instruments to and from CoMech and our client and supplier bases across South East England.

This role requires strict adherence to the Highway Code, Company Rules, and all relevant Health & Safety policies, including compliance with the Fleet Operators Recognition Scheme (FORS) and Railway Group Standards.

Key Responsibilities

Work safely and professionally, observing all company and legal driving standards. Collect and deliver equipment across various UK locations, primarily South East England. Maintain a clean and presentable company vehicle. Ensure delivery notes are completed and signed correctly. Conduct daily vehicle checks and report any issues promptly. Lock and secure the vehicle and equipment when unattended. Communicate effectively with managers and clients. Support warehousing duties as required. Uphold high standards of customer service and company representation.

Requirements

Full UK driving licence with no more than 3 penalty points (held for at least 2 years). Knowledge of the Highway Code and legal driving requirements. Familiarity with long-distance UK journeys. Ability to drive safely and efficiently. Willingness to work overtime when required. Awareness of company quality standards and procedures. Must live in Reading or within a 30-minute drive of our hub in Caversham.

Contract Details

Part-time permanent contract

:

22.5 hours per week

(Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday).

Core hours

: 08:00 - 15:30 (7.5 hours per day). Additional days may be requested for training and holiday cover.

Salary

: 14,750 per annum.

Overtime

: Paid at time and a half for hours worked beyond 22.5 per week. As the company grows, there will be opportunities to increase contracted hours.
