SAGA Truck & Van have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Van Sales Manager to join their fabulous Van Sales Team in Welham Green.
Saga Truck and Van is one of the largest Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle dealerships in the UK. With sites across East Anglia, Hertfordshire, Essex and Kent, our facilities are staffed by experienced professionals who specialise in providing support to businesses of all shapes and sizes.
Not only can we supply new and used trucks and vans, we also offer an array of aftersales services, including overnight vehicle servicing and MOTs, tacho calibration, genuine parts and more.
As
Van Sales Manager
, you will lead, manage, and coach a team of Business Development Executives and Business Development Managers to drive the growth of Mercedes-Benz Van sales across the desired region (East, West, South) in the Retail, SME and Fleet sectors. You will develop and implement strategic sales plans, set performance targets in line with manufacturer and business objectives, and provide hands-on support to achieve revenue while ensuring the highest standards of customer service and brand alignment with Mercedes-Benz and SAGA values.
You'll be responsible for fostering strong client relationships, guiding the sales team in consultative selling, and overseeing the full sales process, from prospecting and deal negotiation to delivery and aftersales follow-up. In addition, you will maintain expert product and market knowledge, using this to train and motivate your team and identify new opportunities. This role requires a results-driven leader with a deep understanding of the commercial vehicle sector and a proven ability to deliver consistent sales performance.
The Van Sales Manager will also carry a personal sales target, with a particular focus on maintaining and growing key fleet accounts to ensure long-term revenue stability and client retention.
This role is based at Welham Green but you will be required to travel to other sites and around the East, South and West areas.

What will you be doing?
Develop and execute a regional sales strategy to increase Mercedes-Benz Van market share and revenue.
Lead proactive sales efforts including prospecting, client acquisition, and business development within the commercial van market.
Set and monitor performance targets aligned with manufacturers targets and company growth objectives.
Build and maintain long-term relationships with SME clients and fleet customers.
Understand client transportation needs and provide tailored product and financing solutions.
Act as the key contact point for major accounts and high-value deals.
Maintain expert knowledge of Mercedes-Benz Van products, features, technical specs, and industry developments.
Train and mentor sales teams and support staff on product benefits and competitive positioning.
Leverage market intelligence to identify new trends and opportunities.
Employ a consultative sales approach, managing the full sales cycle from prospecting to post-sale follow-up.
Negotiate terms and close deals efficiently, ensuring profitability and customer satisfaction.
Maintain an accurate and up-to-date CRM pipeline to track sales performance and conversion rates.
Work closely with internal teams including Sales Administration, Customer Support Executives, and Compliance to ensure operational efficiency and a premium customer experience.
Coordinate post-sale activities, including finance processing, delivery scheduling, and aftersales follow-up.
Prepare and present regular sales reports, forecasts, and market insights to senior management and manufacturer.
Deliver a consistent, high-quality customer experience aligned with the Mercedes-Benz and SAGA brands.
Actively resolve client issues and queries with professionalism and urgency.
Oversee Stock Levels & Costs: Manage and control new and used vehicle stock levels to ensure optimal availability while minimising holding costs and maximising turnover.
Demo Fleet Management: Maintain and manage the demonstration vehicle fleet in accordance with dealer and manufacturer standards, ensuring availability and presentation align with sales objectives.
Used Vehicle Display & Preparation: Ensure all Approved Used stock is professionally displayed and prepared to retail standards, overseeing the full vehicle preparation and merchandising process.
Used Stock Acquisition: Proactively acquire quality used vehicles for retail resale, through part exchange, trade channels, or internal sourcing strategies.
Part Exchange Disposal: Manage the efficient disposal of non-retail part exchanges and non-manufacturer vehicles through appropriate trade or auction channels to protect margin and reduce aging stock.
Analyse performance metrics and take corrective action to address shortfalls
Who are we looking for?
The successful candidate will have:
Experience of sales management within the automotive industry
Experience of selling commercial vehicles (LCV)
Business to Business (B2B) sales
Ability to communicate and report clearly and concisely to senior level always ensuring accuracy
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and sales management tools.
