An exciting opportunity have arisen for a Junior Clinical Fellow in Vascular Surgery at St George's Vascular Institute, St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.The post holders will have nominated roles as part of the weekly rota mainly covering wards duties and pre op assessment clinics.The successful applicants will be a team player, but also able to work individually. They will be a confident and clear communicators possessing excellent IT data management and verbal reasoning skills. We are seeking enthusiastic individuals who can demonstrate excellent attention to detail, accuracy, experience in prioritising workloads and support the present provision of vascular surgical services to the populations of South-West London and surrounding areas as key members of our dynamic clinical team. The posts would provide an ideal professional development platform from which the appointee may develop a portfolio of experience, although the post is not part of a formal training programme. The main responsibilities of the post are to care for the patients admitted to the wards for elective or emergency surgery. Job responsibilitiesThe appointee will have a continuing responsibility for the care of patients under the care of the Vascular Surgery team, including all administrative duties associated with patient care. Qualifications and Training
Essential

  • Primary Medical Qualification
  • Full GMC registration
  • Completion of BST programme or equivalent
Desirable
  • MRCS or equivalent
Experience
Essential
  • Clinical skills, experience and interest in vascular surgery
  • Broad based general surgical knowledge
  • Minimum 1 year experience of working in the NHS
Desirable
  • Particular interest in vascular disease

  • Good history & examination skills
  • Able to formulate a working diagnosis
  • Able to order appropriate investigations
  • Image interpretation relevant to practice
  • Acknowledge own limitations knowing when to appropriately seek assistance from senior colleagues

  • Experience of doing on-call shifts at SHO level
