The Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a VAT & Indirect Tax Manager to join our Tax Consultancy service line. We are happy for the successful candidate to be based at any of our offices including Leeds, Newcastle, Glasgow and Manchester. The main elements of the role will include:
Supporting the VAT and Indirect Tax Senior Manager in delivering complex VAT advisory projects
Leading on own portfolio of VAT advisory projects and dealing with ad hoc queries from the wider business
Identifying planning and advisory opportunities from client portfolio
Keeping up to date with changes in tax legislation, case law and guidance relevant to your area of tax and identify potential issues / opportunities
Manage workload to agreed timescales, effectively managing expectations of Senior Manager / Partners
Monitoring the status of each project and reporting variances to budgeted fees/ time costs or potential areas that may affect the budgets and ensuring deadlines are met
Build, develop and maintain a network of business partners/ intermediaries to ensure the profile of Armstrong Watson is positive in the marketplace
Supporting the VAT & Indirect Tax Senior Manager in targeting and identifying business development opportunities

The Candidate
In order to fulfil the responsibilities of the position, we would like candidates to be / have:
Focussed and have a driven attitude to grow the firms VAT advisory offering
Technically strong and have at least 5 years previous experience working in a VAT advisory role advising across a range of sectors
Commercial and able to manage / help others in the team achieve success
Approachable and able to manage / help others in the team achieve success
