A prestigious UK accountancy and advisory firm is seeking a talented and experienced individual to join its VAT team, based in London. The firm delivers a broad range of tax and consulting services to a diverse client base, with particular strength in the real estate and financial services sectors, both domestically and internationally.
Role Overview
This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven VAT professional to take on a leadership role within a dynamic and growing team. As VAT Manager, you will oversee a portfolio of clients, lead advisory projects, and support Directors and Partners in both client delivery and team management. You'll also be instrumental in mentoring junior staff and contributing to business development initiatives.
Key Responsibilities

  • Client Leadership - Act as a trusted adviser to clients, managing a portfolio of VAT compliance and advisory cases, identifying VAT issues, and delivering exceptional service.
  • Technical Expertise - Lead complex advisory projects, provide strategic VAT guidance, and identify opportunities for additional services across your client base.
  • Team Development - Manage and support junior staff, conduct appraisals, provide on-the-job training, and act as ADR manager where required.
  • Practice Development - Contribute to business development activities, build relationships to drive new opportunities, and support marketing and PR initiatives.
  • Compliance Oversight - Ensure internal procedures and HMRC guidance are followed, maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
  • Continuous Learning - Engage in internal and external training, seminars, and technical reading to stay current with VAT legislation and industry trends.
Candidate Profile
  • Significant UK VAT experience gained in practice or industry
  • Technically strong adviser with experience handling complex client work
  • Proven ability to manage people and client relationships
  • Commercially minded with an appetite for business development
  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) or tax adviser (CTA)
