Responsibilities

Develop, test, and deploy scalable data solutions using technologies such as AWS, Hadoop, Spark, and Apache Hive. Design and optimise database structures and queries for systems including Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and data warehouses. Write efficient code in Java, Python, VBA, Bash (Unix shell), and Shell Scripting to automate processes and improve system performance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications. Perform data analysis to support business insights and decision-making processes. Maintain existing applications and troubleshoot issues promptly to minimise downtime. Ensure data security standards are adhered to across all platforms and systems. Document development phases, architecture designs, and operational procedures thoroughly.

Qualifications

Proven experience in software development with a strong understanding of database design principles. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, VBA, Bash (Unix shell), and Shell Scripting. Hands-on experience working with AWS cloud services and big data tools like Hadoop, Spark, and Apache Hive. Solid knowledge of SQL databases including Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server. Experience in building data warehouses and implementing ETL processes using Informatica or similar tools. Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets effectively. Familiarity with analysis tools related to Big Data environments is highly desirable. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
