We are seeking a skilled person to join our team at Clockhouse Farm.

The Clock House Farm Vehicle Inspector and Fitter is responsible for maintaining the business commercial vehicles, plant and equipment fleets in a state of compliant serviceability, in accordance with the guidance and direction as issued by the DVSA.

To be considered for this role, you must have the following skills and experience:

Thorough understanding of the DVSA compliance standards. Strong knowledge of automotive systems and components. Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults in vehicles. Ability to use diagnostic equipment and interpret technical manuals. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Attention to detail and ability to work with precision. Effective communication and teamwork skills

Responsibilities



Fleet Technical Lead

. Provide mechanical / technical advice to the Workshop Manager and all Driver / Operators. Assist the Workshop Manager with ensuring the CHF vehicle fleet is compliant in accordance with the DVSA guidance and legislative requirements as defined by the Traffic Controllers directions.

Vehicle Inspector

.

Conduct the duties of the CHF vehicle inspector, ensuring all vehicles are pre-inspected for roadworthiness prior to returning to operational use.

Vehicle and Plant Safety Inspections & Servicing.



Carry out scheduled safety inspections and servicing on a varied fleet of vehicles and plant, including LGV's, vans, 4x4's, plant vehicles and items of horticultural plant and equipment.

Vehicle Testing.



Prepare vehicles to the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency legislative standards prior to annual testing.

Vehicle and Plant Maintenance & Repairs.



Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs on a varied fleet of vehicles and plant, including LGV's, vans, 4x4's, plant vehicles and items of horticultural plant and equipment.

Accident and Bodywork Repairs.



Undertake general accident and bodywork repairs, to include the fitting of replacement vehicle body panels, repainting, and vehicle refurbishments.

Equipment Management.



Maintain the serviceability and calibration of all vehicle testing equipment, including the maintenance of the Workshop LOLER records.

Workshop Administration.



Complete job cards (including accountability of parts, consumables and lubricants), and safety inspection/service sheets using all available recording equipment.

Workshop Husbandry.



Ensure the workshop / work area is maintained by exercising good engineering hygiene routines and cleaning.

Workshop Management

.

Assist the workshop manager with the general management of the department when required to do so.

Health and Safety.

Ensure all workshop activities are conducted in accordance with the CHF Health and Safety Policies, referring to all RAs and SSoWs as applicable.

Qualifications and experience requirements:

Recognised apprenticeship or proven work history.

City and Guilds / NVQ level 2 or level 3 in Automotive Repair and Maintenance.

Full Driving Licence.

Additional qualifications in specialist diagnostics, electrical repair, mechanical repair and welding would be advantageous. Experience in Vehicle Inspection and fleet administration.
