is a leading civil engineering and groundworks contractor operating throughout Yorkshire and the North East. We are seeking a
time-served Vehicle Mechanic / Technician
to join our in-house workshop team. This is a hands-on role maintaining, repairing, and managing our fleet of company vans, cars, and light commercial vehicles.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, inspections and repairs across a mixed fleet of vans, cars, and light commercial vehicles.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, and electrical faults efficiently and safely.
Undertake
MOT preparation and presentation
, ensuring all vehicles meet DVSA standards.
Plan and manage preventative maintenance schedules to minimise downtime.
Maintain accurate digital service records, inspection reports, and defect logs.
Ensure all work complies with manufacturer standards, legal requirements, and company procedures.
Assist with vehicle collections, deliveries, and breakdown response when required.
Support the Workshop Manager with workshop organisation, stock control, and parts ordering.
Skills & Experience
Time-served / qualified mechanic or vehicle technician
(e.g. NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent).
Proven experience maintaining
light commercial vehicles and vans
essential; HGV experience advantageous.
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
Understanding of MOT testing standards and vehicle compliance requirements.
Ability to work independently to a high standard of workmanship.
Full UK Driving Licence required.
