Oakwood Motor Company is a leading independent used car dealership, retailing over

350 vehicles every month

. Due to strong growth, we are looking for an experienced

Vehicle Preparation & Aftersales Operations Manager

to take ownership of our workshop and prep centre.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a

fast-paced environment

, balancing

sold-vehicle preparation, retail servicing, and warranty work

to deliver the highest standards of customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Sold Cars

- Manage the fast turnaround of deposited/sold cars to order (all with completed VHCs), ordering parts, allocating jobs to technicians, and ensuring timely handover.

Aftersales & Warranty

- Oversee all warranty claims, goodwill repairs, and service plan customers.

Retail Customers

- Coordinate MOTs and servicing for repeat customers, maintaining high standards of service.

Workflow Management

- Use DMS/prep systems to set job order, track progress, and ensure first-time fix completion.

Parts Control

- Order, track, and return parts, keeping costs low while maintaining quality.

Team Leadership

- Motivate and support 8 technicians and 1 apprentice to hit efficiency and quality targets.

Performance Monitoring

- Track KPIs (turnaround times, labour efficiency, comebacks, cost per job) and report to senior management.

Supplier Relations

- Build strong supplier partnerships and negotiate the best terms.

About You

Experience in

workshop control, prep centre management, or aftersales leadership

. Strong technical knowledge - able to guide technicians and ensure correct diagnosis. Confident with

parts management

and controlling costs. Highly organised, proactive, and commercially aware. Able to thrive in a

busy, high-volume independent used car environment

.
