There has never been a better time to join the Trust's Fleet and Equipment team as a Vehicle Preparation Operative (VPO). Our Ambulance Vehicle Preparation (AVP) team play a vital role in ensuring our front line crews are ready and able to respond to emergency situations by preparing our vehicle fleet and equipment to high standards.
The role of the VPO is also a gateway to the organisation with opportunities to develop you career with us either within the Fleet and Equipment team or the wider Trust in both patient-facing and a variety of support roles.
Main duties of the job
Vehicle Preparation Operatives process ambulances in a prescribed and controlled way that ensures each ambulance is ready to treat patients. Information about AVP is provided in this short video, https://vimeo.com/737833133/67b03c85c9.
Some of the duties include:- Responsible for the preparation of front line vehicles to a state of operational readiness, including cleaning, refueling, minor running repairs, stocking and equipment checks, to meet the production schedule.- Responsible for ensuring vehicles are clinically cleaned to Infection Prevention Control (IPC) standards.- Responsible for ensuring vehicles are restocked in line with the consumable load list check sheet, and for date checking consumables and removing as appropriate.- To assist Fleet in maintaining the operational serviceability of vehicles by undertaking vehicle inspection and minor running repairs.- Responsible for maintaining written or digital records of vehicles and equipment cleaned on a daily basis to allow departmental performance and compliance reporting.- Carry out the movement of Trust vehicles as part of the vehicle preparation process.- Drive all vehicles in a manner that is within the law and the Trust's driving standards, and that is not detrimental to the reputation of the Trust.- Ensure the safe security and transit of all items that are transported.
