The Role
We're seeking an
experienced Vehicle Technician Team Leader
to join our specialist manufacturing team. In this role, you'll lead a group of technicians, train new staff, and be directly involved in building bespoke amphibious vehicles from the ground up -- not repairing or maintaining cars.
You'll oversee both structural and mechanical assembly phases, ensuring the highest build standards while helping shape a growing workforce.
Growth
We have recently moved from manufacturing a few units a year up to 24 vehicles and we are continuing to grow. There is a strong opportunity to grow with the company as we expand.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate a small team of technicians across both structural and mechanical build phases
Provide hands-on training and mentoring to develop technical skills in new team members
Assemble vehicle, coolings system, suspension systems, marine components and electrical components
Support the integration of automotive parts into bespoke amphibious platforms
Carry out quality checks, inspections, and defect reporting
Contribute to the continuous improvement of build processes and workshop efficiency
Assist with prototype testing and vehicle trials (occasional travel/overtime may be required)
Maintain workshop safety, cleanliness, and compliance standards
Accurately log build and team activity data, including torque settings, serial numbers, and part tracking
What You'll Need
High mechanical aptitude with strong attention to detail (required)
Proven experience as a mechanic or vehicle technician
Strong knowledge of vehicle assembly
Relevant technical certification
Previous leadership, mentoring, or supervisory experience (preferred)
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (preferred)
Welding, fabrication, or machining skills (advantageous but not essential)
Experience in low-volume vehicle production (preferred)
Strong communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills
