Job Description

We are a BMW and Performance specialist workshop based in the picturesque town of Thirsk, operating from a modern 10,000 sq ft facility dedicated to delivering exceptional services. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Workshop Manager & Lead Technician to oversee daily operations, maintain the highest technical standards, and deliver exceptional customer service and support.

We seek an experienced Workshop Manager & Lead Technician to join our friendly and passionate team. Candidates will mostly be working on BMW, Rolls-Royce, Racecars and Supercars, although prior experience with all these manufacturers isn't required. Successful candidates will receive training for the role.

As Workshop Manager & Lead Technician, you will:



Lead and supervise a team of technicians, ensuring efficiency and quality in all work carried out. Work with our front-of-house team to manage customer enquiries, quoting, and parts. Oversee workshop operations, job allocation, and workflow management. Carry out complex diagnostic, mechanical, and electrical repairs, with a particular focus on BMW and other prestige/performance marques. Step into the workshop when needed to complete advanced diagnostics and small jobs when required. Ensure compliance with health & safety and industry standards and regulations. Deliver excellent customer service, liaising with clients on technical issues and job progress. Manage stock levels, parts ordering, and workshop tools/equipment. Provide training, guidance, and mentoring to new or junior staff.

Candidates should have:



Proven experience as a senior technician, master technician, or workshop manager in the automotive sector Strong technical knowledge Good leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to motivate a team. Key attention to detail Customer-facing experience Full UK Driver's License A positive attitude and work ethic, with a high level of professionalism Good ability to problem-solve and manage the technician team Excellent ability to communicate with clients, explaining problems and solutions as needed

Desired but not essential:



Engine experience Porsche, supercar/exotic brand experience Wiring/electrical diagram proficiency

Duties:



Diagnose vehicles using a range of in-house equipment Manage frequent engine rebuilding services Communicate effectively with the team and clients for the workshop Maintain the overall cleanliness and organisation of the workshop Overseeing the other technicians and ensuring an efficient workshop, lending help to various jobs where required
