Overview
This exciting and varied role supports the Head of Operations and Sales in the day-to-day running of the Cowdray Events Business and the delivery of world-class events at Cowdray House.
As Venue and Events Manager, you will take ownership of the presentation and guest experience at Cowdray House, including managing the events diary, the House Operations Team, and external suppliers. You will be responsible for the smooth operation of Cowdray House in its entirety, encompassing events, presentation, maintenance, compliance, and food and beverage service where required.
To be successful in this role, you must be a proactive self-starter, capable of working independently and taking initiative. Flexibility is essential, including availability during evenings and five days out of seven. Due to the nature of the operation, there will be occasions when you are the only member of staff on site and required to remain overnight (staff accommodation is provided).
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Maintaining exacting standards and adhering to operating procedures in a five-star environment across departments including event planning, housekeeping, catering, and maintenance.
Managing the on-event operational team, contractors, and event suppliers to ensure the seamless and cohesive delivery of all events.
Overseeing all aspects of on-event delivery, including guest arrivals and departures, managing suppliers and activities, food and beverage service, and concierge support.
Personally delivering food and beverage services when required, including preparation and service of house breakfasts.
Taking ownership of the guest experience, ensuring consistent delivery of exceptional service.
Managing stock levels and ordering supplies for food, beverage, and general operations as necessary.
Ensuring Cowdray House and its contents are kept safe and secure at all times, actively mitigating risks and addressing issues as they arise.
Overseeing and coordinating maintenance work, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently and to standard.
Assisting the Head of Operations and Sales in managing budgets, with a focus on improving margins and cost-efficiency.
Taking responsibility for compliance, including risk assessments, fire safety procedures, and the induction and health and safety training of new starters.
Essential Skills and Attributes
Proven experience delivering five-star service within an events, hospitality, or luxury setting.
Highly organised, with strong administrative and communication skills.
A proactive self-starter, confident working independently and using own initiative to resolve issues.
Immaculate personal presentation with a warm, professional, and welcoming demeanour.
Fluent and clear spoken English, with an excellent telephone manner.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
