About Us



Docks Beers is an independent brewery and taproom located in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, known for its dedication to crafting accessible, high-quality beers. Our brewery is committed to pushing the boundaries of brewing while ensuring our space remains welcoming and inclusive to all.

Located above our brewery and taproom is Docks Academy, a dynamic and versatile cultural venue that opened its doors in March 2020. The Academy offers a flexible space accommodating up to 200 seated or 300 standing guests. It hosts a diverse and engaging programme, including live music performances, theatre productions, stand-up comedy, performing arts showcases, lectures, creative workshops, exhibitions and private events.

Docks Kitchen is a brand new street food outlet which will be based on the premises at Docks Beers and Docks Academy. Docks Kitchen will offer high quality, local food with rotating menus and is due to open later in 2025.

Since opening our doors in 2020, Docks Academy has been bringing exciting cultural life to the heart of Grimsby, showcasing a variety of live events. With a seated capacity of 206 and standing capacity of 300, the venue is intimate, vibrant and perfectly placed to champion both emerging talent and established acts.

We've hosted artists such as Russell Kane, Glen Matlock, John Power (Cast), Tom Meighan (Kasabian), Twin Atlantic, Sleeper, Starsailor, Chesney Hawkes, Toploader, Reverend and the Makers, Joanne McNally, Electric Six, We Are Scientists, Seth Lakeman, The Bluetones, Lloyd Griffith, Wheatus, The Sherlocks, The View and many more.

As we grow, we're looking for a Venue Manager who is equal parts organiser, leader and creative thinker - someone who can lead the team, deliver outstanding events and play a key role in shaping the future of our live entertainment and community offering.

Role Purpose



As Venue Manager, you'll take the reins of day-to-day operations and play a leading role in the delivery of a diverse, commercially successful programme. This is a hands-on, front-facing role that blends operational responsibility, team management, programming, event planning and community engagement.

You'll work closely with the Managing Director and the Docks teams, local promoters, touring agents, community organisations and commercial clients, bringing fresh ideas and ensuring every event, from a sell-out gig to a local heritage talk, runs smoothly and safely.

Key Responsibilities



Alongside the events team, lead the planning, delivery and on-the-day management of all events hosted at Docks Academy Work proactively with the team to help source, book and deliver a mix of events - including conferences, workshops and community gatherings Take responsibility of the venue calendar, working with the Managing Director and Programming Manager to ensure strong financial performance through bookings, partnerships and private hires Manage and motivate a small but committed team, including technical, FOH and bar staff Ensure adherence to licensing, health & safety and security protocols across all operations Lead on risk assessments and event documentation including event management plans and briefings Champion excellent audience and artist experience, from ticketing to post-event feedback Represent Docks Academy in the local community and wider industry to grow its reputation and reach

What We're Looking For



Proven experience in a venue, events or entertainment management role Commercially astute leader with a track record of planning and delivering live events Confident managing a team, leading by example and bringing out the best in others Sound knowledge of event licensing, health and safety and crowd management A people-first approach: great at building relationships with artists, suppliers, staff and audiences Organised and unflappable, able to multitask and problem-solve in real time Commercially astute, with an eye for opportunity and new event formats or partnerships A passion for live entertainment, culture and community engagement
