Mayflower Theatre is the largest theatre on the South Coast with 2,271 seats in the auditorium. The Theatre's aim is to bring a diverse range of shows to Southampton. We present a mixture of spectacular touring productions, from musicals to dance, opera, drama, ballet and comedy.

MAST Mayflower Studios is a cultural and community hub. We present family shows, dance, musicals, music, comedy, circus, cabaret, spoken word, and visual arts. We put participation at the heart of everything we do.

Both the Theatre and Studios operate under the Mayflower brand. Collectively we provide Inspiring Experiences to all who engage with each venue.

Venue Security



Your main responsibilities will be:



To ensure the safety, security and comfort of all staff, patrons, performers and contractors within Mayflower premises. This role involves providing a visible and reassuring security presence, conducting routine checks, and responding swiftly to incidents, managing crowd flow and supporting emergence procedures. This position plays a vital part in maintaining a welcoming environment whilst protecting the venues people, property and reputation.

Our ideal applicant will :



Have previous experience in venue, event, or public-facing security roles. Hold a valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence, which includes First Aid and Basic DBS check. Be reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Have experience in making informed decisions with the ability to implement effective security measures by being proactive and problem-solving when swiftly assessing situations. Have a keen eye for identifying risks and potential problems as they arise. Excellent communication and collaboration skills with proven experience in engaging with staff and other stakeholders. Have confidence in dealing with members of the public in a professional and respectful manner. Have good observation skills and attention to detail.
The role will be based on an annualised hours contracts of 1040 hours per year - an average of 20 hours per week (4-5 shifts on average) - this will include afternoons, evenings, and weekends. All applicants must be available for weekend work.

Applicants must be over 18 due to licensing laws.

Hourly Rate from 13.36 per hour, plus benefits.
