We are seeking a motivated and independent individual with practical experience of construction site environments to join our team on a full-time basis. The role involves predominantly site-based work, specifically focused on the verification of ground gas protection measures and ground gas monitoring, and is ideal for someone eager to grow their career within the industry.
The role is based from our Stevenage office, but the site work would involve sites across the UK and occasionally beyond.
In this role you will:
Conduct on-site verification of ground gas protection measures for projects across the UK.
Adhere to and enforce ground gas safety standards and protocols on-site.
Collaborate with construction teams and stakeholders to ensure quality standards are met.
Maintain accurate records of site activities and report progress to project managers.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of construction processes and materials.
Undertake ground gas monitoring at sites across the UK.
Essential skills, knowledge and experience
At least one year of experience working on construction sites.
Good understanding of construction safety practices and site operations.
Ability to work in a fast-paced construction site environment.
Experience and enjoyment of work on construction sites.
Good verbal and written communication skills
Good interpersonal skills
A practical aptitude and good problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and within a team
Ability to work away from home (including overnight stays) for extended periods of time at development sites across the UK
Full UK driving licence
Desirable skills
Knowledge of ground gas protection measures.
Experience of verification of ground gas protection measures.
Experience of ground gas monitoring techniques.
Experience of factual report writing.
Specialist training
We provide full specialist technical training to help you develop the verification and ground gas monitoring skills required for the role. You will work closely with both the Stevenage team and the wider GGS team across the UK, from site staff through to our directors.
As a new starter, we will support you in your technical and professional development - drawing on the wide range of expertise across the company.
Location
You will be based out of the GGS office in Stevenage, however the role will be primarily site-based requiring daily presence at construction sites. You will need to travel to various project sites across the UK as required, with frequent overnight stays as necessary. As a resident verification specialist, site deployments will typically be from Mondays to Fridays, as well as occasional weekend work at key project stages.
There will also be trips to our head office in Stockport (e.g. for training, company events).
Working hours
Full-time (40 hours/week).
Contract details
Initial fixed-term contract of 12 months, with potential for extension.
Base salary range: 28,000-32,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Enhanced salary payments for overnight stays during projects, worth up to 10k per annum in addition to base salary.
