We help animals - but their people need to be looked after too. We are looking for someone who would love to do both. Someone who loves to give great service and would thrive in an environment where making our human clients surprised and delighted with the amazing service and care for our pet patients means that they choose us to help make their pets healthier and happier.
Day to day you will be helping the vets and the Registered Veterinary Nurses to care for the patients and to keep the practice running smoothly. Jobs we need help with include holding animals for examinations and bloods tests, keeping the surgical instruments sterilised and organised, taking pet patients out for toilet walks and keeping them fed, among many other day to day tasks. We have a dedicated client care team, so you will not be expected to man reception most of the time, however, there will be occasions where you are asked to cover reception: meeting, greeting and booking in pets (of course we'll make sure you receive full training and are not left alone until you feel comfortable with the role).
But it goes without saying, what we can give you is even more important than what you can give us - we will give you full training, send you on courses where necessary, support your learning and do everything we can to get you up to speed. As one big practice team, we work closely together and no one is left unsupported. You will report to the Head Vet Nurse, who you will work closely with to deliver the amazing service that our clients (and their pets) know us for.
You are likely to have some experience with pet animals. However, experience of working in a vet practice is not required. We are a young business and are constantly pushing the envelope of what we can achieve and how we can achieve it. We will learn from you and you will learn from us - that's how we think a good, fulfilling and meaningful working relationship should be. You will also need good computer literacy as we work with various IT systems.
Your working week will be approximately 24.5 hours (but we can be a bit flexible on this) working Monday 0830-1200, Tuesday off, Wednesday 1pm-7:30pm, Thursday 12pm- 7:30pm, Friday 10:30-6pm and every 3rd Saturday morning 9am-1:30pm. Occasionally you may be required to work alternative shifts within our opening hours (8:30am-7:30pm Mon-Fri and Saturday 9am-1:30pm) to cover absences, but you will be informed about these well in advance.
We could tell you how friendly we are and how supportive we are. We could tell you all about the wonderful new expansion and new staff area, shower and big kitchen that we have just built for all of the staff to use, but we would rather show you!
So please get in touch by sending any questions, or just your CV and a brief cover letter to cara@thefinchleyvet.co.uk. OR apply through Indeed.
