Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive VCA to join our friendly veterinary practice. We are a busy practice performing multiple surgeries daily, we offer in-house dentistry, radiography, ultrasonography, blood/laboratory testing and a vast range of consults whilst striving for gold standard and having patient welfare at the forefront of the care we provide.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:



Keeping the whole practice clean to a clinical standard. This is an ongoing task which includes cleaning everything from medical instruments and machines to walls, floors and consult rooms, often several times a day.

Cleaning out animal kennels to a clinically high standard.

Cleaning up after procedures and operations.

Looking after any in-patients, cleaning, feeding and monitoring, walking dogs and any other caring duties that may be required, ensuring they are always comfortable and attended to.

Assisting the veterinary surgeons and nurses by holding animals when required for procedures.

Assisting the front desk team as and when required. Answering the phone to clients and helping them with their enquiries such as booking appointments and ordering their flea and worm products.

Unpacking deliveries and recording them on the stock control database.

Working closely with the clinical and non-clinical team members to deliver the best levels of patient and customer care, taking full ownership of tasks and responsibilities.

Comply with all policies and procedures within the surgery, including Health and Safety Regulations and keeping accurate records.

We need someone with:



Excellent organisational skills with good attention to detail

Compassionate nature with a genuine interest in animal welfare

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Strong communication skills to liaise with pet owners and team members

Ability to remain calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment

We need someone who is proactive and can get on with what needs doing without having to be asked, someone who can assist and work around the clinical team with good attention to detail, always ensuring the highest standard of animal care.

The job is 24-30 hours a week, mainly 12.30pm-6.30pm, with some Saturdays (9am-3pm) and bank holidays (10am-4pm). Some flexibility to cover staff holidays will be required. Full details can be discussed at interview stage. The job is on a fixed term contract of 6 months, with the possibility of extending to a permanent contract.
