Veterinary Care Assistant - Mixed Practice

Job description

We are looking for a veterinary care assistant to join the team, working in a mixed animal veterinary practice in the beautiful market town of Easingwold.

You will be required to support and assist colleagues in feeding, walking and handling animals, cleaning of kennels and preparation of theatre areas to a high standard.

Ensure daily, weekly and monthly cleaning is carried out to a high standard. Ensure all laundry is dealt with in a timely manner.

Ensure the large animal unit is clean, tidy and the farm equipment is serviced and maintained.

Complete tasks as directed under the supervision of a RVN or vet. Process urine and blood samples and remove catheters.

As the role involves supporting all our vets, we are also ideally looking for someone who has farming experience and a willingness to support the veterinary technician in their roles whether that be at calf club or freeze branding cattle. Training will be provided in all these areas.

A positive and pro-active person is a must. Experience is desirable but not essential. After successful completion of your probationary period a willingness to undertake a Veterinary Care Assistant course would be encouraged.

A valid driving licence is required.

The large animal unit is based at our site on Roxby Business Park, the role requires you to work across both sites on a rota' d basis.

38 hours per week. The working hours are between 8am till 18:30pm. The ability to work till 18:30 is essential plus alternate Saturdays from 9am to 1pm.
