Job Description

This position is for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to become part of the team at a Surgical Referral Centre.

We have a lovely team of RVN's who work well together, we are looking for permanent RVN's to join this great team.

The referral centre has an interesting case load including Total Hip Replacements, fracture repairs and spinal surgery. We are also have both MRI & CT Scanners on-site.

The RVN's are responsible for in-patient care, preparing theatres, taking & running blood samples, placing IV Catheters, preparing the patients for theatre, monitoring anaesthesia, assisting the surgeons during consultations and surgery. This is a true nursing position.

We also also have a team of excellent Ward Assistants who assist the RVN's with in-patient care during normal hours and also after hours and at weekends.

The position can appear a little daunting to RVN's who haven't undertaken this type of work before but please don't be put off by this.

Full training and support is provided.

Full time position:

4 days per week working 8am - 6.30pm with a lunch break, 1 Weekend in 4 on-call which involves working 8am - 12 noon and then caring for the in patients with other RVNs and Ward Assistants over the weekend. Some overnight care is also required and paid in addition to the basic salary.

Bank Holiday on-call and overnight care is arranged fairly between all the nurses.

We are also in a position to offer part-time hours if required.

The basic starting salary for RVN's with

no prior referral surgical nursing experience

is 29,000 per annum. In addition to this salary, overnight stays and weekend in-patient care that takes place after 12 noon Saturday are paid separately.

In addition to the salary CPD is encouraged and funded as well as RCVS register annual fees paid.

Holiday entitlement: 5.6 weeks per year including Bank Holidays.
