Are you a veterinary surgeon focused on regenerative solutions? if yes, then come and join us!

Why join us?

A great opportunity for a veterinary surgeon to join the regenerative medicine team in providing a full musculoskeletal diagnostic service, treatment with cell-based therapies and follow-up rehabilitation. An opportunity to focus on musculoskeletal work, pain management and the use of novel therapies to manage a variety of conditions. A chance to support and expand the active rehabilitation service. Full training in diagnostic imaging, including musculoskeletal ultrasound and application of regenerative therapies. An opportunity to work alongside a dedicated, friendly team with a range of experience, who value collaboration and mentorship. Being able to work alongside a dedicated, supportive team of three vets, six RVNs, two physiotherapists, a hydrotherapist and patient care assistants in our regenerative medicine and rehabilitation referral centre. The benefit of a well-equipped hospital with all the latest tools and a highly skilled musculoskeletal and regenerative medicine team to help deliver the best innovation possible.

The team

Based in the small village of St Boswells in the picturesque Scottish Borders, Greenside is a first opinion and referral practice based on the same site but in different buildings. Our location allows easy access to both Edinburgh and Newcastle by road or rail.

We are a friendly and supportive team with a good mix of experienced members of staff and an exceptional nursing team that works well together.

The offered role would be based in Greenside's purpose-built regenerative medicine and rehabilitation referral facility. Operational for over a decade now, Greenside was the first regenerative medicine referral centre to be opened in the UK and attracts clients from across the length of the UK and Europe.

We provide our clients with a complete service, including one-hour long consultations, full musculoskeletal diagnostic work ups, advanced treatment options with stem cell therapy/platelet rich plasma therapy and rehabilitation with physiotherapy and hydrotherapy.

Our diagnostics tools include force plate analysis, stance analysis, digital thermal imaging, musculoskeletal ultrasound with elastography, digital radiographs and needle arthroscopy. We strive to provide every patient with a complete diagnosis to deliver the optimum treatment plan.

Greenside is leading the way in veterinary regenerative medicine and actively contributes to research in the field. Current research focuses on combination therapies for elbow dysplasia, spinal disorders, and rehabilitation following treatment with stem cell therapy.

Andrew Armitage heads up the Regenerative medicine team at Greenside and has recently published a large scale, comprehensive study, which adds to the evidence required to support the use of MSCs (mesenchymal stem cells) in canine musculoskeletal conditions: https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fvets.2022.1014687/full

What we're looking for

Qualifications in sports medicine, rehabilitation, pain management or orthopaedics would be beneficial for the role but not an absolute requirement. To act independently, making full physical assessments and using problem-solving skills to formulate a treatment plan that will best suit that animal using a multimodal approach and personalised medicine Execute this treatment plan using quantitative analysis and objective measures to assess the efficacy of treatments and make changes if necessary To get involved in the development of the field by contributing to evidence-based medicine, and be adaptable to create bespoke treatment plans for both client and patient Strong problem-solving abilities and the desire to help drive clinical governance and ensure compliance with practice protocols.
