Who We Are:
We have three sites - Staveley (Chesterfield), Shirebrook (near Mansfield) and Ravensdale (middle of Mansfield). Each vet has their own site, but James and Sean (the directors) travel between them all. We are looking to employ a new veterinary assistant at either Staveley or Shirebrook (or both if you prefer to travel between!) to continue our growth cycle.
We are seeking an experienced clinician (18m+ small animal clinical practice) to join our team and ease the clinical load on Sean & James to facilitate them moving into hybrid leadership & clinical roles. This will support the next stage of our team and practice growth. We both love teaching, James lectures at The University of Nottingham and Sean coaches our recent graduates with their surgical skills.
We are a group of three, busy, first opinion practices with a very varied caseload. We are independently owned by Sean & James who are also vets across our sites. We treat our patients as we would our own.
We currently have more than 100 years of combined experience between the 10 vets, ranging from 9 months to 30 years qualified! One is studying a dermatology certificate, another a surgical one. Two of our team love doing dental too!!! We have a visiting cardiologist monthly and specialist orthopaedic surgeon who visits most weeks.
Happy for FT or PT applicants - we have both within our current team.
We prefer a single site for the applicant to work within, but can accommodate moving between sites too if preferred.
Perks:
- FTE: Four day week with one early finish (4.30pm).
- 1/5 OOH rota and weekends (paid per case seen) - this is not compulsory and can be discussed for each candidate.
- Monday off post weekend work.
- 6weeks 1 day holiday + bank holidays + day off on your birthday!
- CPD actively encouraged, including certificates!
- VDS / RCVS / other vet memberships covered.
- Salary - 40k is the base minimum for 18m graduated. 70k for an experienced candidate keen to teach / lead. Happy to include rent within salary package if relocation is required.About Us:
We are a mad bunch. Lots of us have tattoos and piercings. Some have brightly coloured hair. We all swear too much. All of our team pets are pains in the arse, intent on needing veterinary attention on our weekends off! We have pool players, footballers, long-distance walkers, rock climbers, dancers, quiz masters, gig-goers & sofa snugglers. Our baking game is strong. Many (most) of our conversations are not repeatable at home. If this doesn't deter you, we want you!!
The main benefit of working within our group of independent practices is the ability to effect change - we have seen our clinical standards greatly improve since opening, spearheaded by the team members who have joined us on this journey. Our key drivers are providing high-quality veterinary care with good value - working alongside our clients to meet their needs within their budget.
If you are looking for a bit of a crazy, chaotic yet tight knit team, look no further!
We support our staff on the hardest of days and will lift them up high on successful ones... with the flexibility in-between to allow you to find who you are, and which areas are your strongest and also your weakest.
We are 25mins south of Sheffield city centre and 45mins north of Nottingham centre. The beautiful peak district is on our doorstep which is perfect for lazy day dog walking.
