The Vice Principal (Academic) of London Churchill College
focuses on the academic aspects of the College by supporting the Principal in carrying out his/her role and by supervising the Head of Programme and Annual Monitoring to ensure the smooth and effective functioning of the College's academic programmes and activities.
Purpose:
1. To act as support to the Principal in all areas involving the College's Academic planning and delivery.
1.1. On behalf of the Principal, represent the College in the external community, to the
awarding organisations and regulatory agencies and potential academic partnership
institutes.
1.2. Support the Principal to develop academic strategy and academic plan of the College
that further LCC's mission and strategy framework.
1.3. Support the Principal in chairing the Academic Board and the Principal's Executive
Group and support the Principal in ensuring that all committee meetings are scheduled
well in advance, take place on time, the records of meetings are produced and are
distributed.
1.4. Review key academic documents and manuals (such as the student handbook, course
handbooks, work experience manual, student engagement manual validation
documents, partnership documents) are produced and made available to all relevant
parties well in advance and deal with any points raised.
1.5. Support the Principal so that the College meet and/or exceed the key academic
metrics/performance indicators as set by the company directors, including but not
1.6. Write and report on the following documents to the company directors identifying
strengths and weaknesses:
1.6.1 College Annual Monitoring Report (of courses delivered by the College)
1.6.2 OfS/QAA Report and Action Plan
1.6.3 Standards Verifiers Reports and External Examiners Reports on College
courses
1.7. Any other duties as assigned by the Directors.
2. Provide leadership and oversight for the role of Head of Programmes and
Academic Monitoring (HoPAM)
2.1. Play an acting role when or if the HoPAM is away or on leave or if the position was
vacant so that necessary activities of HoPAM are either delegated or carried out.
2.2. Support and mentor academic staff in their professional growth and development and
oversee performance evaluations of the HoPAM and the Course Coordinators.
2.3. Review the academic policies, guidelines, and regulations and ensure that the College
adheres to all relevant academic standards, awarding bodies regulations and the OfS
requirements.
2.4. Carryout/delegate/oversee/ monitor all academic activities including timely production
of the academic reports such as UER, PAMRs, student surveys, peer reviews,
response to the EE.
2.5. Ensure effective, timely and efficient conduct and chair the Assessment and
Progression Board (APB), Programme Committees, the Student Engagement Group
meetings.
2.6. Undertake the establishment, development and maintenance of our key relationship
with the awarding body, administration and other activities supporting the work of the
curriculum and developing and enhancing our reputation, both internal and external to
the College.
2.7. Oversee and review the curriculum management to ensure the development,
management and quality assurance of specified area of curriculum provision, ensuring
that the area delivers outstanding education provision where quality standards and the
needs of students are met and often exceeded..
1. Specific Terms and Conditions:
2.8. The HoPAM will undertake course management, administration and such other duties
as assigned by the Principal. The successful candidate must be willing to absorb
rapidly any new areas of expertise needed for the effective performance of his or her
duties.
2.9. The appointment is subject to London Churchill College terms and conditions of
employment. An academic related member of staff will be required to serve a
probationary period of up to six months.

2.2. The initial salary will depend upon qualifications, experience of the candidate and
availability.
2.3. Number of days per week subject to negotiation.
