About the role
The British Museum is hiring a
Video Producer
to join the Video & Audio Production team. We're looking for someone to help create compelling content that brings the museum's stories to life on our online platforms, particularly YouTube.
You'll produce high-quality films for our website, marketing campaigns and in-gallery displays, as well as bespoke content for our 70,000 members. Working closely with colleagues across the museum, you'll help share the incredible stories behind our world-class collection and the work of our staff.
Key areas of responsibility
Film and Edit
: Capture high-quality footage of interviews, galleries, and objects; record, edit and archive 4K content to professional standards.
Create Engaging Content
: Generate ideas and produce YouTube facing stories, Vlogs and documentaries; develop new formats and approaches for digital channels, marketing campaigns, and in-gallery displays.
Collaborate
: Work with internal teams and external partners to deliver video projects aligned with exhibitions and key messages.
Support Audio Projects
: Assist with podcasts, audio guides and exhibition soundscapes.
Maintain Standards
: Ensure safe handling of objects, cultural sensitivity, and efficient archiving of all media.
Technical Advice
: Advise colleagues and third-party producers on best practices for video and audio content
About you
You're a creative and organised video professional with strong technical skills and a passion for storytelling. You have:
Proven experience filming and editing high-quality video content, ideally with cameras such as Sony FX6 or FS7.
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects, plus experience creating graphics using Illustrator and Photoshop.
Ability to manage multiple projects, respond to briefs, meet deadlines and manage your own time efficiently.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and nurture performances from contributors not used to being on screen
Knowledge of archiving workflows and an understanding of cultural sensitivity when working with historical objects.
Passionate about museum related content.
