Saint Gobain Construction Chemicals has identified significant growth opportunities. Particularly in organic or polymer coating and flooring. Are you passionate about developing sustainable products and working with international business partners to drive improvements? We're seeking a Development Chemist VIE within an international team to lead projects to help drive this growth!



The main role:





You will work alongside experienced technical experts in a laboratory setting, contributing to research and development activities. Your responsibilities will include:


Ensuring all lab and site activities comply with Group HSE policies Developing new products to meet Saint-Gobain's cost and performance requirements, both independently and as a project leader Providing technical support to Saint-Gobain business units in relevant material, product, and application areas, including on-site visits Leading and coordinating product benchmarking: defining test plans, managing samples, executing tests, and communicating results Presenting your work during monthly team review meetings

Extra information:




Working primarily in the lab, with 1-2 days/week possible from home for research, documentation, and virtual meetings This is a 12-month contract, renewable once. Occasional travel (1-3 times/year) within Europe depending on project needs



Working Environment:




A mix of office and laboratory settings. Some processes may generate dust, vapors, or fumes (LEV systems in place). PPE provided as required. This role involves occasional manual handling tasks. You should be comfortable lifting and carrying items weighing up to 25kg, in line with health and safety guidelines.

Essential Requirements :




Engineering degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or equivalent First lab experience or a project with strong practical, hands-on involvement Highly motivated, enthusiastic, curious, and proactive Strong problem-solving skills and ability to ask for clarification when needed Interest in sustainability and eco-friendly innovation Ability to collaborate across departments and international teams Ability to prioritize and deliver based on business and commercial needs Clear and efficient communicator across all project phases C1 level English with technical vocabulary

Bonus experience :




Experience leading projects from concept to implementation in agile, cross-functional environments Knowledge of materials technologies: cement, epoxy, PU, acrylic
