Virtual Teacher (Up to GCSE & Functional Skills)



Required Start Date:

5 January 2026 or as soon as possible

Working Pattern:

Monday-Friday, term time only + 3 days during school holidays

Hours:

40 hours per week (core business hours 8:00am-6:00pm), active working 9am-3pm

Role Overview



We are seeking to appoint a

highly motivated, proactive and enthusiastic Virtual Teacher

to join our growing team. This role is primarily delivered

online

, providing high-quality 1:1 and very small group teaching to pupils with SEND, SEMH needs, trauma histories, and disrupted educational experiences. Specialisms in English, Maths, and/or Science preferred.

In addition to virtual delivery, the role requires:

Occasional home visits

for welfare and safeguarding purposes (risk assessed and planned)- Newcastle and Northumberland areas

Off-site educational or community-based sessions

to support socialisation, engagement and real-world learning

Weekly in-person team meetings

in the

Hexham/Corbridge area


Applicants must have

QTS or QTLS

and be confident working within a

trauma-informed, alternative provision environment

About the Setting



We are a trauma-informed education provider with an attached alternative provision specialising in

bespoke academic support

, mental health, trauma-responsive practice and SEND interventions. Our provision focuses on

individualised pathways

, strong relationships, and restoring engagement with learning.

Given the nature of our cohort,

experience and confidence in behaviour regulation and emotional support

is essential.

Key Responsibilities



The successful candidate will:

Deliver high-quality English, Maths, and/or Science teaching up to GCSE level through live virtual sessions Design and implement bespoke learning pathways aligned with the school curriculum Engage reluctant learners through creative, personalised and flexible approaches Support pupils with a wide range of SEND, including literacy barriers, anxiety, low self-esteem and interrupted education Plan and carry out occasional home visits and community-based learning activities to support welfare, engagement and social development Attend weekly in-person team meetings in the Hexham/Corbridge area Work collaboratively with assistants and specialist staff, delegating appropriately Maintain accurate assessment, planning and safeguarding records Adhere fully to the setting's ethos, policies and trauma-informed practice model

Person Specification



The successful applicant will:

Hold QTS or QTLS Have a minimum of 3 years' experience working with children or families with SEN and/or challenging behaviour Demonstrate excellent behaviour management and regulation strategies Be flexible across teaching, pastoral and behavioural support Have a strong understanding of trauma-informed and relational practice Prioritise safeguarding and respond confidently to concerns or incidents Be an effective team player who actively promotes a positive staff culture Build strong relationships based on our ethos of "connection before correction" Promote equality, diversity and inclusion Communicate effectively with colleagues and the leadership team to support whole-provision wellbeing

Working Hours



40 hours per week Core business hours: 8:00am - 6:00pm Staff must be active for teaching between 9:00am - 3:00pm Additional duties may be completed flexibly within core hours, based on performance and service need
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 25,000.00-30,000.00 per year
