National Museums Scotland is one of the leading museum groups in Europe. With one of the largest and most diverse collections in the world, we are responsible for the acquisition, preservation and display of a substantial part of Scotland\xe2\x80\x99s cultural, historic and national heritage.

Millions of local and international visitors enjoy our four museums each year, and we also introduce our collections to a much wider audience than can physically visit our museums through, touring exhibitions, loans, community engagement, digital programmes and research.

Over the last decade, we have invested over \xc2\xa3120 million in our sites and have more than doubled our visitor numbers, with over 3 million people now visiting our four museums. Alongside this, we have continued to transform how we communicate and engage with our audiences. 2019 has seen the completion of our Masterplan for the National Museum of Scotland with the opening of three new galleries dedicated to Ancient Egypt, East Asia and the Art of Ceramics.

Visitor Experience Assistant \xe2\x80\x93 Part Time 1,092 hours per annum
Salary: \xc2\xa321,937 Pro rata (\xc2\xa311.40 per hour)
Hours: Average 21 hours per week | Up to 5 days across 7
Location: National Museum of Rural Life, East Kilbride

About the Visitor Experience Assistant role:

You are the first person our visitors will see, and we want to make the right impression! Make no mistake, this is a customer service driven role. You will be working front of house, meeting and greeting visitors and helping them have a great experience. From promoting our public programmes and events to providing information and knowledge on our various collections and stories, every day is a new opportunity for us to lead the way in exceptional customer service!

As a Visitor Experience Assistant at National Museum of Rural Life you will:
  • Be proactive, approachable and visitor focussed in being ready to offer assistance, directions and exceptional customer service to our visitors
  • Promote and support a broad range of public programmes, exhibitions and events
  • Develop and maintain an appropriate level of knowledge of the Museum\xe2\x80\x99s collections, displays, objects and stories, and activities
Skills and experience we\'re looking for in our Visitor Experience Assistant:
  • Ability to demonstrate an exceptional standard of customer service
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate a keen and genuine interest in working with the public
  • Experience of working in a customer facing role.
