Salary:
The starting salary is 47,060, which includes allowances totalling 2,928.
The salary is broken down as 44,132 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale 52,652 Plus, a location allowance of 1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of 1,000.

There is no greater mission than keeping the public safe. This communications role is integral to the success of the Metropolitan Police Service. Our communities and police officers depend on excellent communications and engagement informed by insightful policy and political advice.
This is role works as part of the visit and events teams who design and deliver a proactive and strategic programme of engagements for the Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and wider Management Board.
You will directly lead on plans and execute them that increase the Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner's visibility internally with our workforce and externally with community groups, businesses, charities and a range of other organisations.
You will also lead on incoming visit requests from the Government and City Hall for senior politicians including leading on regular visits from Secretaries of State and the Mayor of London. Working with colleagues in the political engagement strand you will design visits that support our priorities and help advocate for the Met.
You will also be asked to project manage from planning to evaluation key corporate internal events supporting the Commissioner and Management Board, these will include Senior Leader Events (SLEs), corporate awards and other key leadership events.
You will play a key role in helping us tell our reform journey in different ways whether that's by setting up a roundtable event, hosting a reception, or bring guests up close with our specialist capabilities. Creativity will be key.
You will innovate and lead on scoping and delivering new events and processes for celebrating success and leading awards ceremonies at a local level with B/OCUs. You will also coordinate and deliver community engagement events using innovative ideas.

Essential For The Role A track record of planning and successfully executing visits and large scale events against a complex events programme.
Experience of using events as a communications tool to ensure key campaign messages are delivered to the right people at the right time in the best format.
Experience of delivering events in support of and integrated with internal and external campaigns and advocacy work.
A demonstrable ability to deliver modern and fresh events that feel different to the Met and are community focused.
Experience building partnerships with a diverse and senior range of stakeholders quickly forming and maintaining working relationships with colleagues internally and externally.
Outstanding organizational skills with the ability to work to pressing deadlines reacting quickly and calmly to changing circumstances and demanding stakeholders, during busy periods
A working understanding of media and external relations and how both elements relates to visits and events
Experience of setting, profiling and managing significant budgets and ensuring value for money.
Some experience of working with and managing third party agencies and suppliers
Strong co-ordination skills, sharing and escalating opportunities and challenges where appropriate and liaising with operational colleagues in a large and complex organization.
An understanding of how the most impactful communications are delivered using all of the available disciplines.
Experience of being able to take and process complex information, address any gaps and produce appropriate, clear and effective communications materials.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and a passion for supporting teams to tell the story of the Met.
A working knowledge of policing, the wider criminal justice system, and the ability to hit the ground running.
Experience of leading others, developing and motivating colleagues to increase their capability, confidence and effectiveness to thrive in their role.
Ability to work flexibly and develop the capabilities of others through coaching, mentoring and developing others.
A track-record of using data and insight to drive advocacy.
