Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ' Priority ' and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.



The post holder will report to the Voluntary Services Manager and will assist with the co-ordination of Voluntary Services at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, working autonomously with minimum levels of daily supervision.



The post holder will contribute to the delivery and development of volunteer service improvements to improve the experience of patients, support our staff and reduce pressure on our services.



The post holder will work with departments across the Trust to identify new volunteering opportunities, particularly innovative roles that will free up staff to enable them to focus on clinical activities and reduce pressure across the Trust.



The post holder will engage and support UHP's c. 350 volunteers.

1. Oversee the administration, selection, assessment, placing and reviewing of all new volunteers at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, using the Trust's recruitment and selection procedure, providing assurance to the Voluntary Services Manager.



2. Develop new systems and processes for the intensive recruitment of large numbers of volunteers in line with funding targets and the demand from high impact, high turn-over roles, e.g. winter pressure roles.



3. Day to day management, coordination and supervision of volunteers, providing effective support, learning opportunities, guidance, encouragement and monitoring their performance and effectiveness, acting upon any feedback and providing assurance to the Voluntary Services Manager.



4. Support the Voluntary Services Administrator to ensure relevant training and induction for volunteers is undertaken, recorded and kept up to date within agreed timescales.



5. Ensure volunteer role development complies with NHS England volunteering guidance for NHS providers, including safe recruitment, accessibility and inclusivity, health and safety, and risk management. Ensure new roles meet the needs of UHP staff, volunteers, and patients.



6. Develop and maintain a volunteer to career programme, ensuring the development of roles includes increasing potential employability of candidates.



7. Develop existing volunteer capacity, e.g., increase the number of volunteering hours, offer existing volunteers opportunities in new roles and regular review of existing roles to updates tasks included.



8. Work closely and collaboratively with the Voluntary Services team and wider Patient Services team.



9. Ensure effective promotion of new roles to recruit new volunteers to ensure that the capacity for volunteering support at UHP is sustainable.



10. Monitor the suitability of both established and new volunteer roles in liaison with key staff and ensure that all roles remain fit for purpose through a regular system of monitoring, evaluation and review, providing assurance to the Voluntary Services Manager.
