Role Overview
Reporting directly to the CEO and partnering closely with the CPO, CTO, COO (vacant), this is a pivotal leadership role that will suit a proven financial strategist and hands-on operator. You'll bring commercial clarity, startup financial expertise, and operational rigour to a fast-moving and complex business at the forefront of sustainability and tech-for-good innovation.
This is currently an unpaid volunteer role (8-10 hours/week), with the potential for equity participation or conversion to a paid leadership role as the company grows.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute a robust financial strategy to support scale-up across the UK and beyond.
Design and maintain financial models, budgets, forecasts, and cashflow planning.
Provide clear, board-ready insights and recommendations to guide decision making.
Build frameworks for settlements, commission structures, logistics costs, and payout flows (drivers, merchants, charities).
Lead on fundraising strategies -- grants, impact funds, VC/angel investment, CSR partnerships.
Explore innovative finance products (BNPL access, donor sponsorships, carbon/ESG monetisation).
Support preparation of investor decks, ESG reports, and grant submissions.
Partner with the CEO and CTO to align financial strategy with product and technology roadmaps.
Required
A commercially sharp financial leader, with experience in startups, social enterprises, or scaling businesses.
Proven experience in financial modelling, fundraising, and liquidity management.
Able to combine strategic vision with hands-on operational detail.
Comfortable with cash flow management, unit economics, and innovative funding models.
Skilled communicator -- able to translate complex numbers into compelling stories for investors, boards, and team members.
Innovative thinker -- able to see beyond AI hype, exploring how finance can drive social good in new ways.
Collaborative and values-driven; thrives in diverse, remote-first teams.
