We're looking for a proactive and adaptable Volunteer Coordinator to lead and develop our volunteer programme at Room at the Inn. As a small hands-on charity, we need someone who can take ownership of volunteer recruitment, training and support, while also contributing to wider organisational tasks such as business support and social media management. You'll ideally have experience in volunteer coordination or team leadership, with strong communication skills and a flexible approach. Duties

Supervise and lead a team of volunteers, ensuring they are well-supported and motivated, including regular one to one session. Develop and nurture lasting, consistent, and productive relationships with businesses who are involved with fundraising and volunteering. Source volunteering opportunities for our service users and encourage and support their engagement within the voluntary role. Develop and implement training programmes to identify and maximise the skill set of our volunteers. Manage volunteer schedules to ensure optimal coverage for the day centre, events and projects. Coordinate fundraising efforts, including planning events and marketing campaigns to attract support. Utilise social media platforms to showcase volunteer opportunities, fundraising activities, and promote the work of the charity. Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours, expenses, contributions, and feedback for reporting and data purposes. Collaborate with other staff to identify areas where volunteers can help and support. Evaluate the effectiveness of the volunteer programme and implement improvements as needed.

Requirements

Proven experience or the skill set to supervise or lead the volunteer team - with strong leadership and organisational qualities. Project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Proficiency in social media, including creating engaging content for Room at the Inn's 5000 followers, across Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. Experience creating engaging social media content and graphics using tools like Canva (or similar design platforms). A passion to support, via the charity, those who are vulnerable and at risk within the community. Decent administrative skills, including data entry, record keeping and basic report generation. Knowledge of public health principles is advantageous but not essential. Great communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to educate and train others effectively. A proactive attitude towards problem-solving and a commitment to ensuring a positive volunteer experience. Advantageous but not essential would be knowledge around homelessness or a willingness to learn.
This role is essential in driving our charity's mission forward through effective coordination of our dedicated volunteers. If you are passionate about making a difference in the community and possess the required skills.
