Volunteering Surge Recruitment Lead
UK-Flexible (Hybrid)
Salary: 36,236 to 38,118 per annum (plus ILW, if residing & working in London) (DOE)
Hours: 35 per week
Contract: Permanent

This role is at the heart of our emergency volunteer mobilisation - designing and delivering safe, scalable recruitment models that meet the moment. You'll work across teams to ensure readiness, uphold compliance, and support rapid deployment with clarity and care. What will a day in the life of a Volunteering Surge Recruitment Lead involve?

• Designing recruitment models that work under pressure and meet legal standards.

• Testing systems to make sure volunteers can be mobilised quickly.
• Working with teams to align surge plans with wider organisational goals.
• Supporting emergency response groups with updates and insights.
• Using feedback to improve recruitment processes and readiness.
• Sharing knowledge and building confidence across the organisation.

To be a successful Volunteering Surge Recruitment Lead, what will you need?

• Expertise in volunteer recruitment with strong safeguarding and legal compliance knowledge.
• Ability to design scalable recruitment models for emergency and surge contexts.
• Experience delivering recruitment under pressure, including during crises.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and planning skills, including briefing senior leaders.
• Confidence using digital tools to support recruitment delivery.
• Familiarity with emergency planning and incident response structures.
