TMS Motor Group is offering a great opportunity for an Andon to join their busy, successful Service Department at their family run Leicester Volvo dealership.

It is essential that you have qualified as an Automotive Technician with NVQ level 3 in Light Vehicle Repair and Maintenance or an equivalent. If you have experience as a Technician or Workshop Controller, this may be the role for you.

Andon



A driven individual with the ability to do minor repairs on cars, focus on people and improvement work. This, to improve the customer experience, efficiency and minimise costs.

Role description



Main Task/Responsibility



Support PST's in the workshop (Personal Service Technicians) Ability to plan production effectively and follow a workshop schedule (following standard) Conducting the daily meeting Responsible for following up on the decided team KPI's and visualising them on the Visual Planning board in the workshop Identify improvement areas that needs to be measured in order to achieve the objectives Responsible for pre-checking and following the daily planning for the team, in order to predict the need for support Being available as the first line of support to take over the job or balance the team Coaching and supporting the PST with both technical and administrative issues Coordinating the improvement work in the workshop. By following up what takes place in the workshop

Coaching skills Have a creative and open mind Basic car knowledge (minimum level 3 or equivalent certified) Communication/relation skills Experience to work towards goals and continuous improvement (driven by facts and data - not feelings or opinions) Analytical ability (cause and effect - why did or didnt we reach the target? Basic knowledge of the whole customer service process including parts and sales Well suited for both identifying problems at root cause as well as planning the action to eliminate the problem

Balance Team



Andon should not be booked in the planning system to ensure being available as the first line of support If the team encounters problems concerning the production planning and the planned work during the day, Andon should be able to help the PST/team to avoid inconvenience for the customer

Utilise Andon



Understanding the importance of having a tight planning with fixed check in/out times. Tight planning will result in deviations on the start and stop time and will utilise the Andon.

Example:



If the techs dont plan tight (add air in the planning) they will always pass their tact times (check in/out) and they will never find the need to use the support of Andon. Andon usage is triggered by tight planning Andon usage reveals deviations The result in deviations is one of the most important key aspects that drives the improvements work

Booking level on Andon



Booking level on the Andon is decided by the size of the team, the Andon should have availability to support the PSTs direct when they are in need of support.

Andon should handle internal bookings only and his telephone number should not be visible for customers. Andon is only booked in holiday periods when large parts of the team is away (suitable to book for Andon if the PST is not available is PDI work, new cars, used cars, prepare for sale, towed cars (non-time critical jobs)).

Working Hours:



Mon-Fri 08.00-17.00 (30 mins lunch), plus Saturday rota 08.30-12.30
