An established financial institution is seeking an experienced Java Back-End Engineer (Vice President level) to join its growing eTrading Engineering team, based in Manchester. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the design and delivery of cutting-edge trading technology at the heart of a world-leading financial services organization.
The Role
As a Java Back-End Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping and optimising the firm's electronic trading platforms. You'll collaborate closely with Product, Sales, Trading, and Operations teams to design, build, and scale robust, high-performance back-end systems that power critical trading applications.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and implement scalable back-end features and components for trading applications.
Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code.
Develop and maintain automated tests and testing frameworks.
Optimize system architecture to support growth and reduce technical debt.
Participate in code reviews and collaborate with team members to uphold coding best practices.
Integrate software components into fully functional systems.
Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing systems.
Contribute to deployment processes and ensure adherence to change control protocols.
Drive continuous improvement through innovation and technical excellence.
About You
To succeed in this role, you'll bring:
Proven experience in software development, ideally within banking or financial services.
Strong proficiency in Java, particularly in developing critical applications.
Familiarity with front-end technologies such as React or Angular.
Solid experience with relational databases and strong SQL skills.
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset suited to agile development environments.
