Overview



We are a Glasgow-based engineering company seeking an engineer with experience of VTOL UAVs to support deployment, training, and handover of a VTOL fixed-wing UAV system.

This role is hands-on and field-focused, covering assembly, commissioning, operation support, and end-user technical training. The successful candidate will attend factory/system training in Bulgaria, followed by final end-user training and operational support in Ghana.

This is a short-term, specialist contract suited to an engineer with real-world VTOL, propulsion, avionics, and ground control experience, capable of working independently in overseas environments. Full training on our systems will be provided.

90 kg MTOW VTOL fixed-wing UAV

featuring:

Quad electric VTOL motors for take-off and landing Two-stroke gasoline propulsion for forward flight (170 cc, 15 HP) Dual-redundant IMU flight control (Cube Orange-based architecture) AES-encrypted long-range datalink (up to 100 km) EO / IR stabilized gimbal payload with onboard processing Fully autonomous mission planning, take-off, landing, and waypoint navigation

Key Responsibilities



Air Vehicle & Propulsion



Assemble and disassemble airframe, wings, tail sections, and VTOL arms Support installation, inspection, and operation of the two-stroke gasoline engine Propeller installation, bolt torque verification, and rotation checks Conduct pre-flight, post-flight, and routine maintenance inspections

Avionics & Flight Control



Configure and verify autopilot, IMUs, GPS, and datalink systems Support VTOL ? fixed-wing flight mode transitions Diagnose and resolve avionics or control-system faults

Ground Control & Datalink



Configure and operate Ground Control Station (GCS) Mission planning, autonomous flight, and manual override support Setup and verification of encrypted long-range datalinks and antenna tracking

Payload & Training



Support EO / IR payload integration and operation Deliver structured technical training to end users Provide operational handover and technical support during deployment

Required Skills & Experience



Proven experience with VTOL or fixed-wing UAV platforms Strong mechanical, electrical, or avionics engineering background Hands-on experience with propulsion, avionics, and UAV systems Confident fault-finding in field conditions Comfortable delivering technical training
