to join our dedicated team responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vessels within one of the UK's busiest and most strategically important ports.
As part of our Marine Operations team, you'll play a vital role in coordinating vessel traffic, maintaining safety standards, and supporting our Pilots and Launch Crews to deliver smooth, effective marine operations.
About the role
Initial training will require you to be away for up to 6 weeks.
Operating radar and VTS equipment to plan and monitor vessel movements.
Communicating with vessels via VHF to provide traffic information and maintain navigational safety.
Assisting the Duty Officer with planning vessel movements and allocating Pilots and Pilot Launches.
Recording vessel movements, pilotage and launch utilisation data accurately and in a timely manner.
Responding to emergencies and coordinating communications during incidents.
Supporting investigations by providing relevant operational data.
Undertaking ongoing professional development and training -- including attending off-site courses and accompanying Pilots on board vessels.
What we're looking for
Essential:
GCSE (or equivalent) in English.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Calm, confident decision-making under pressure.
Excellent attention to detail and planning ability.
Team player with the flexibility to work shift patterns, including nights and weekends.
Able to pass a role specific medical.
Desirable:
IALA C0103/1 (formerly V103/1) VTS Operator Certificate.
STCW Officer of the Watch or equivalent qualification.
ECDIS Certificate.
GMDSS or VHF Operator's Certificate.
