is seeking an experienced

Waking Night Carer

to provide dedicated overnight care and support within the community. This is a

female-only carer role

, working

1:1

with a client who requires patient, skilled, and sensitive support overnight.

About the Role

Location:

Buckingham or surrounding areas (must be locally based).

Shifts:

10:00pm - 7:00am,

7 nights per week

.

Hours:

Full-time permanent hours available.

Key Responsibilities

Provide

safe and dignified overnight care

, including

repositioning

in bed according to specialist OT guidelines. Support with

personal care tasks

, including incontinence care and assistance with dressing for bed. Administer or monitor

night-time medication

appropriately. Offer reassurance and calm support if the client wakes during the night or needs assistance to the bathroom. Maintain

clear and respectful communication

, following the client's preferences (e.g., using preferred name, knocking rather than using the call bell). Maintain

consistent, firm boundaries

and clear routines to support the client's mental wellbeing and sense of safety. Always wear your

ID badge

and follow agreed protocols to avoid triggering trauma responses.

Essential Skills & Experience

Extensive experience

in care, especially supporting adults with complex physical disabilities (e.g., cerebral palsy) and mental health conditions (e.g., emotionally unstable personality disorder). Proven ability to work with clients who may present

challenging behaviours

, with a calm, patient, and respectful approach. Experience with

safe repositioning techniques

and using specialist OT equipment (e.g., bed rails, levers). Strong understanding of

boundaries, reassurance, and consistent communication

for clients who may feel anxious or unsafe. Confident in lone working at night while maintaining

professional contact with your wider team

. Must hold a

full UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle

. Must be

female

, as per the client's preference, and comfortable working

Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months

Pay: 12.21-13.25 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 27 per week
