About the Role
MJM Care Group is seeking a committed and compassionate Waking Night Children's Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) to join our therapeutic residential children's home, supporting children and young people aged 7-17 with complex emotional and behavioural needs.
The post holder will be responsible for maintaining a safe, calm, and nurturing environment throughout the night, ensuring the welfare and safeguarding of children at all times. You will provide a consistent and reassuring presence, responding appropriately to children's emotional needs, night-time anxieties, and any incidents in line with individual care plans and risk assessments.
You will undertake regular checks, maintain accurate records, and communicate effectively with the daytime team to support continuity of care. The role requires a high level of vigilance, professionalism, and reflective practice to ensure that children are protected, respected, and supported during the night.
Key Responsibilities:
Remain awake and attentive throughout the night to safeguard and support children
Carry out regular checks and respond to emotional or behavioural needs
Maintain accurate logs, records, and incident reports
Provide reassurance, consistency and calm to any children who wake or are unsettled
Support with morning transitions and handovers to the day team
Complete light domestic tasks to prepare the home for the following day
What We're Looking For:
A nurturing and emotionally resilient individual
Experience supporting children or vulnerable people (preferred but not essential)
Comfortable working alone and using initiative during night shifts
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it)
A clear understanding of safeguarding and trauma-informed practice
