Do you have a passion for supporting families and children with complex needs? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a caring and dedicated individual to join our team at Welland House Family Residential Centre as a Waking Night Support Worker on a full-time, permanent basis.
Location: Market Harborough, Leicestershire
Addition to Salary: Night Shift Premium Allowance to reflect the unsociable hours of the role, calculated at a third of hourly rate.
About the Service
Barnardo's, the UK's largest children's charity, is proud to be working in partnership with Leicestershire County Council to deliver innovative residential services for some of the county's most vulnerable children and families.
Welland House offers three self-contained flats, accommodating up to three families at a time. Families may face challenges such as learning difficulties, domestic abuse, substance misuse, mental health issues, or trauma. During their stay, parents receive support from Barnardo's staff while undergoing parenting assessments by Leicestershire County Council Children's Services.
Our team is committed to promoting best practices through guidance, role modelling, key work sessions, and practical advice-focusing on safety, routines, boundaries, and overall wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities

• Build trusting, nurturing relationships that promote independence and wellbeing
• Work collaboratively with parents/carers and professionals
• Support the upkeep of the home, including cooking and cleaning
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records
• Uphold safeguarding policies and procedures
• Ensure a safe and secure environment at all times

What We're Looking For

• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to achieve this within the required timeframe)
• Experience working with children, young people, and families
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
• Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Willingness to attend mandatory training and supervision sessions during daytime hours when required

While Welland House will be your primary base, you may occasionally be asked to support our other Leicestershire Residential homes within the locality.
